Mike Murphree's family lived across the street from Jack Bridges on main street near town. The older brother Dick Murphree is deceased, as well as Mike. I think Mike was married to Patsy Yarborough way back. His mother was named Inez. They roomed and boarded baseball players when we had class D pro ball around 1950. - Benny Whiddon
Mike was in my classes from Day 1. Mr. Murphree (Mike and Buddy's dad) worked for the power company. We called Dick Allen "Buddy". They had one of the first TV's in Headland and I'm sure we nearly worried them to death watching the Wednesday and Saturday night fights at their house! (It seems like it was always snowing on the tv) - Wayne Brannon
