Miscellaneous (need some help here)

Above - Dad was in high in school I believe - or maybe his first year at college.  This may be the time they went out to Seattle to the World's Fair.  The story was that Dad did not want to go because he and Mother were an item.  And yet Granddad Major wanted him to go, and wanted him to drive most of the trip.  To entice him, Dad had to be paid to go on this one!  I wonder if he was really happy!
