don't be sorry

American writer Jack Kerouac

This is a very interesting film about the life of writer Jack Kerouac.  When he was a student-athlete at Columbia University, he discovered the works of writer Thomas Wolfe, a native of Asheville, North Carolina.   If you go to the 10 minute mark, you can learn what led him to Wolfe and other writers, and the impact they had on him.

Thomas Wolfe woke me up to America as a poem instead of a place to struggle around and sweat in. This dark-eyed poet made me want to prowl and roam and see the real America that had never been uttered.  - Jack Kerouac
