Thanks for the memories, Burt.

Smokey and the Bandit is my first memory of Burt Reynolds.  Mother always liked to share that at the movie, it was so crowded, we all had to sit in separate spots. I was only 6 or 7, and likely sitting with my oldest sibling, Leslie. Mother was a few rows behind, keeping an eye on us.  In one scene, Buford T. Justice says, "I am going to barbecue your ass."  Mother said just as that line finished, I said out loud, "Mama, did you hear that?!?"  She said everybody laughed, and she wanted to hide under the seat.
