This is from a month ago, and was our first restaurant experience in Asheville after returning from our separate trips overseas. Kade and I had been apart for about three weeks. So we decided to go back to the spot where I treated her a birthday dinner last November: Smoky Park Supper Club. And we got there early to wander around the lovely riverside grounds. Very impressive. A friend of Kade's also joined us, and our experience together was pretty wonderful. Kade and I both felt, though, that from where it scored before - and that was super high - it was down considerably after traveling to Thailand and Southern Spain. Talking about food only. It's not that it was any different in terms of taste. In fact, we ordered a couple of the things we had gotten before because they were outstanding the first time. But it was not quite the same. What happened was Thailand and Spain - two phenomenal food cultures. And I mean phenomenal. When you immerse yourself in places like that, it's the equivalent of spending a month in Fiji, then expecting Destin, FL to be the same. It won't be. And you have changed, too.
