Shaken, Not Stirred

I was never a really big Sean Connery fan.  I only knew him from his roles in Indiana Jones and The Hunt for Red October, and he was already a very seasoned actor by then.   He made an impression on me - certainly in Red October.  But all the James Bond stuff?  That was the '60s and '70s primarily.   The franchise had moved on to another actor by the time I was really beginning to enjoy movies,  Now my dad always loved James Bond.  He went to every James Bond movie he could throughout his life.  Sean Connery had to be the quintessential Bond in his eyes, since he represented his generation.  And Sean Connery was the first.  He was acting a part, of course, but perhaps he did it so well because it was an extension of what he already was:  regal, stylish, handsome, masculine, suave, intelligent and adventurous.  A lot of men desire to be that, and a lot of women desire to be with that.
