M.W. Espy's first home was directly across the road from Jack Bridges' home. Their homes were just a bit down from Walden Motor Co., the bank, and the Espy Feed & Seed Store. AD Walden lived right in there, too. That's called Main St. now.

Below is an email I sent to Don McClendon on 12-10-20. A couple of months before, he had walked me down to his parents' first Headland home, on Depot St.. He said he never remembered it being Depot St., but he was just a kid then and they didn’t stay there long. As we walked down the sidewalk towards his old home, I pointed out the Southeast Alabama Gas building, which is on the exact spot where Major W. Espy lived after he first married. Young Watty Espy lived there for a bit. Anyway, at some point, it was torn down and the gas building was constructed there.
I figured it out. A while back I saw a news story about Jack Bridges' home and a home that belonged to AD Walden, and they both were on Depot St. The Jack Bridges' home was right across from the SE Alabama Gas building. Today that stretch is what we know as Main St. So the home where you lived and the one where that baseball player Kennedy drove up on his motorcycle were indeed on Depot St. at that time.
I found Headland Insurance Agency's website. The history they show doesn't match what I've discovered. We'll try to figure it out.
