Thomas Albert West (Sr.) and J. J. Espy (Sr.) married daughters of Major Carroll of Ozark, Alabama.

T. Albert West, Sr. worked with J. J. Espy, Sr. at the First National Bank of Headland.  In 1907, he was the assistant cashier.  Later, he was part of a group that founded a bank in Ozark.

When in his prime, Thomas Albert West, Jr. was described as "a ball of fire that swept across the horizon."  There is no end to his list of accomplishments.  His career was in banking: First National Bank of Dothan, Bank of Ozark, and past president of the Alabama Banker's Association.  He was also a director of Equity Life Insurance Co..  He was involved in the Citizen's Supervisory Committee, the Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club, Dothan Community Chest, the Red Cross, the Houston County Hospital board, Houston County Cancer Society, and was even Dothan's Man of the Year in 1959.  He was an active steward of First Methodist Church."  Of all the monuments that will be erected to Thomas Albert West, Jr., none will surpass the growing community he helped to build.  Dothan and the surrounding are indeed fortunate he "passed this way."  He left behind his son, Tom West III, his daughter, Marcella West, his mother Sallie (Carroll) West, his brother, Sam Carroll West, Sr., plus three grandchildren and two nephews.  - Find a Grave
