Our good fortune continues. En route to returning a DVD to Rosebud Video, Kade saw these bears - again, right in the city. We just had to pull over! So, counting the bear at the Biltmore, which we could not video in time, and then counting the three on Reynolds Mountain we saw Tuesday, now add four more! It's like winning the bear lottery!
Fascinating. I was spellbound watching. - cousin Beverly
We were too. And you'd be surprised the number of people who whizzed by the scene, fixated on getting somewhere in a hurry, never once glancing over to observe what was going on. There's a moral there, I'm sure. Same thing happened the other day....a couple of people even glanced in the direction of the bears, but didn't see them, although they were in plain sight. I think stopping to smell the roses and living in the moment can open up the world. No telling what we miss when consumed by the things around us.
After the bears, a light dinner was in store. Just down from the Wedge Brewing Company in the RAD (River Arts District), we got a window "bar seat" at The Bull and Beggar, one of Asheville's newest restaurants. We had mussels and frites, a lobster roll and some peach cobbler with huckleberry ice cream. The mussels and lobster roll were delicious. The other items were so-so. The atmosphere and service were a-one!
Our final stop - and really the reason we went into the RAD - was Wedge Brewing Company. I tried one of their Czech lagers and Kade got one of their lighter beers, the Iron Rail IPA. The free peanuts hit the spot. There was lots going on right outside the Wedge. As we left, they were getting ready to show an outdoor movie, right off the side of a big delivery truck. Lots to see and do in this town!
