Cemetery Stroll

In June 2011 Kade and I walked around the First Baptist Church of Headland Cemetery with my dad.  Below is the video we made of that Sunday afternoon graveyard stroll.  On the way to the cemetery, Dad took us by a little farmer's market stand and helped us pick out a sweet watermelon that we could take back to Asheville.  It was delicious!

ENJOYED THE CEMETERY TOUR. YOU NEED TO GIVE OLD DAD A LESSON ON HIS FAMILY HISTORY. - Larry, June 2011

I know I came across the name Pet who married into the family, and will look up the connection. I think she married one of Thomas Franklin Espy sons.

If or when you talk with Griggs Espy again, perhaps you can find which ones of Elizabeth Espy Hooks' nephews or nieces knows the most about her. I know her husband Carey Solomon Hooks is buried at a big cemetery in Montezuma, Macon County, Georgia. His mother is buried there also, and probably his father. But when I looked at the listings there about a year ago, Elizabeth was not listed. I had cut out the clipping of her obit, but somehow I did not cut out the last column of the clipping, and I don't know what it said about her burial. Of course, these days, many people don't have burials. But I wish I knew what happened. Bud and I did go to Elizabeth's funeral in Sandy Springs, GA. We knew other Espys were there, but we did not recognize any of them. I know her brother Collier was supposed to be there. I also knew one of Carey's relatives was there who was close to Elizabeth - but I did not know her to recognize her. - Beverly
