Uncle Homer
my great-uncle, brother of Victor Allen Grace

I actually have some memories of Uncle Homer. We would visit him at his home, not far from my grandparents' place. I remember he was in a wheelchair. In the photo above, I think he looks a bit like the actor Martin Sheen, when Sheen would have been that age.
The man with the white hat on, sitting on bench with his legs crossed, is Homer Grace! The man
in the middle who just rolled a cigarette, and still has the lit match in hand, about to light the
cigarette. This is Mr. Billy Mills. The other man on the bench is W.C. Miliner. The man in the
distance on the ground is T.J. Kennedy, Elaines's “future father in law”!! The man doodling in the
ground is Clarence Hayes. This was taken at E.P. Chambers' store, the one only a few feet from
Daddy's, and is still standing. I witnessed many scenes like this growing up in Shorterville-----and
there were many, many more men than this always sitting around playing dominoes, etc. A treasure I
can’t forget! - Robert Edward Phillips
