Fun Little Project

This is a portrait of my great-grandfather, John Jolly Espy, Sr. of Headland, Alabama.  My father gave me the portrait (unframed) - and a few others - many years ago.  I had it framed and gave it as a surprise to my brother Mark.  If you look closely, you will see cracked glass across J.J. Espy's face.  Funny thing is, it's not the glass from the frame.  The portrait itself is glass....and that's what broke.  Not sure if the glass can be sealed or pushed back together so that it's not noticeable.  Going to try to take it out and at least get a hi-res scan of it, then go from there.  It will be a fun little project to tackle.  Luckily we have this portrait on standard portrait paper.  It just looks like this one, being glass, was preserved better, ironically.  One of my cousins told me that she could see a lot of my great-grandfather in me - that we resemble, in the face.  What do you think?  Of course, I took it as a compliment.  And it made me smile.
