A Single Day

Biltmore Estate Garden Shop

We need this!

George Vanderbilt did a lot of overseas traveling.  Once he married, he and his wife really enjoyed it together.  And after their little Cornelia was born, she got excited about it, too.  There's a great exhibit at Antler Hill Village on the Biltmore Estate.  It's about their travels.  It only covered some of their destinations.  Read the descriptions.  I also included some links below that will give you more perspective on their passion for traveling.

Parthenon (Greece), Leaning Tower of Pisa (Italy)

Colosseum (Italy)

Chichen Itza (Mexico)

Taj Mahal (India)

Boudhanath Stupa (Nepal)

Easter Island (Chile)

Hagia Sophia (Turkey)

Himegi Castle (Japan)

Great Wall (China)

The Great Pyramid of Giza &
The Great Sphinx of Giza  (Egypt)

Lighthouse of Alexandria (Egypt)

Machu Picchu (Peru)

This was a surprise!  It was the hot part of the day.  Just stepped out.

Ah, back at home.

a mountain cottage

See the spot on the right that's circled?  That's the location of the cottage in Beaverdam Valley, in North Asheville.

Later, Kade and I took some VIPs on a drive to see some views around Asheville.  We were also hoping to see bears!  We must know where they are!

Best burgers in Asheville!  Not telling where.

Beaverdam Valley, baby. We had just dropped off my sister and her hubby at their mountain cottage Airbnb. It was 9:30 PM, and I said to my wife, "You know, bears are more active at night." Within a few seconds, our car headlights picked up a mom and cubs in the road. They then quickly moved into a yard and were going door-to-door. Thinking these nighttime bear cruises might be the future! Need some night visitation goggles or a spotlight. Hope nobody shoots us!
