He and my great-great-grandfather, Thomas Franklin Espy, were brothers. They both served in the Alabama state legislature.

John Seaborn Espy and Elizabeth Jane (White) Espy had nine children.
One of their children was Goodman Basil Espy (Sr.), who started this impressive legacy.
