Oh, Boy

This is from a 6.3 mile walk.  Tuesdays and Wednesdays are trash days in Asheville.  In areas of the city where's a high concentration of bears, you're definitely going to encounter them on those days, in the morning.  It's wise to be aware of this.  It's smart to give them space.  I see so many bears knocking over garbage cans and taking bags into wooded areas, it makes me sad and disappointed, honestly.  What's worse is when they sit along the road sifting through the trash (for food).  They could easily be hit by cars.  And, if you were walking, you often can't go by them.  Bears protect their food stash!  Anyway, hopefully city officials and Asheville residents can truly resolve all this in a sensible way.  The bears certainly don't need to be punished.  They're just grabbing easy food they way we like to do - going through a fast food drive-thru, for example.  And for the life of me, I don't understand why anybody would want a smelly, messy neighborhood.  Somebody's got to clean it up.  Just facts.
