Albert Carlyle "Carl" Espy, Sr.
1875 - 1951
Carl was born in Henry County, Alabama. His father, Joseph Samuel Espy, and my gg-grandfather, Thomas Franklin Espy, were brothers. Carl and J.J. Espy, Sr., my great-grandfather, were first cousins.
Carl Espy, Sr. led a fascinating life.

That's the Kelly building, bottom left, where the Espy Cotton Company offices were located. Carl also had an office for Espy Paving & Construction Company (later Espy Construction Co.) in that same historic building. Today, the Kelly building goes by another name: the Thomas Gamble Building.
This was Carl Espy's Savannah home.
