You know you're in the Deep South when these are your checkout impulse buys.
One old lady had on her mask in the store. It was sort of a scary mask. I told her I liked it and that it would certainly keep people six feet away. She said, "Ain't that the truth!" and laughed.
I enjoy walking a lot. I try to get in the essential 10,000 steps a day. That's 5 miles. We decided to walk Main Street, down to my old family home and back. Roundtrip it was only 3.35 miles. Growing up, I would have thought walking it just one-way was impossible. Riding my bicycle up to town was an adventure back then....yet I rarely did it. Now when I return to my hometown, I try to do some of walks I never did. Very nice seeing the town in this manner.
9:45 AM, on a Sunday morning. Very quiet.
Will be interesting to see how this mural is developing. Last time I walked the square in Headland (Oct, w/ my uncle), I got some inside intel on what was coming.
I keep seeing support for an Hispanic-American politician.
This was the happening grocery store when I was growing up.

I could stand out in the road for minutes. Love the bicycle lanes, and the fact the town decided to shrink Main St. down to two lanes, rather than the four it used to be. More efficient!
Reminded me of this opening in Vanilla Sky. The video should start at 1:50, when Tom Cruise's character is preparing to leave his Manhattan apartment. When he gets on the road, something huge has transpired.
Standing at the site of the former Earl Solomon peach orchard, I saw a dove in a tree. Made me think of my mother, who rescued three of four birds. One was a dove!
Anybody know what this is?!?! It's like uncovering a woolly mammoth tusk.
A special shout-out to the people who loaned us their bicycles during our stay in the Wiregrass. Here, I was waiting for people to show up for the historic Headland bicycle tours
Our first bear sighting! And a chocolate chip cookie surprise!
